What is a Master of Ceremonies?

Qualified graduate of the Marbecca Method Master of Ceremonies (MC) Workshop, held in Las Vegas in Feb 2008.A Master of Ceremonies (also used in its abbreviated forms MC, emcee or compère) is the official host of a staged event or similar performance. An MC usually presents performers, speaks to the audience, entertains people, and generally keeps the event moving. An MC may also tell jokes or anecdotes. The MC sometimes also acts as the protocol officer during an official state function.

Richard is a graduate of the Marbecca Method Advanced Master of Ceremonies Workshop and has been a professional MC since 2000, performing at dozens of weddings, corporate events and other celebrations, including twice a year at the Wedding Show at Auckland’s Sky City, at the Capital City Wedding Show in Wellington, at the North City Wedding Expo in Porirua and annually for the Hutt Chamber of Commerce Westpac Business Excellence Awards. Testimonials from attendees at some of the Bridal Fashion Parades are here for your interest.

Richard is also a licensed Marriage Celebrant and can officiate over your wedding anywhere in New Zealand, working with you to ensure a relaxed, personal and fun ceremony. This service can be provided almost anywhere with microphones and music using top-quality portable Bose powered speakers, so if you want your ceremony on a snow-capped mountain top, on Stewart Island, by the crater lake on Ruapehu or simply on a beach, Richard can help make your dream a reality.

He features in Tom Haibeck’s book Wedding Toasts Made Easy, in Peter Merry’s book The Best Wedding Reception Ever and is an organised, polished, eloquent and humorous speaker. Richard Mills is available to act as your professional Master of Ceremonies, with or without his Celebrant or DJ services. DJ & MC services can be virtually anywhere in the world.
